The experience behind the advice

Different businesses.
Familiar questions.

I’ve worked across businesses of very different sizes, industries and markets. From small businesses to billion-dollar organisations, the decisions often come back to the same things: people, cash, risk and what to do next.

My work has taken me across continents, through company leadership, difficult periods and the process of rebuilding. I’ve also spent time investing in people’s ambitions and helping business owners work through their decisions.

BuiltOnTime brings that experience together in a place where I can share what I’ve learned.

Chapters of experience

Leading. Rebuilding.
Backing people.

Bill’s introduction brings together company leadership, difficult periods and investing in people’s ambitions. These are the experiences behind the perspective he shares.

01 / Leading businesses

Decisions with people behind them.

Working across businesses and markets brings recurring questions about people, cash, risk and where to focus next.

02 / Working through difficulty

Find the next useful step.

Crises and rebuilding are part of Bill’s account. His lesson on setbacks starts with understanding the facts and taking responsibility for the response.

03 / Backing people

Pay attention to follow-through.

When Bill shares his experience of supporting business owners, he looks at how they put advice into practice and keep moving the work forward.

Adapted from Bill’s introduction, his lesson on setbacks and his account of backing people.

Life around the business

Build a business.
Make room for a life.

I’m also a husband and a dad. I care about staying healthy, spending time with my family and being present for the things that matter.

That doesn’t happen through a perfect daily balance. It means being clear on priorities, structuring the day and accepting that some days won’t go to plan.

The business matters. So does the life around it.

Another person’s perspective

What the conversations meant.

A young agency founder describes asking Bill about cash, people and a partnership exit. His account includes useful changes, decisions he wishes he’d made earlier and a business that still reached an insolvency plan.

It is a personal account of learning under pressure, with the limits as well as the lessons left in.
